VALIANT

heroic
noble
brave

In memory of one of my personal heroes, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, who died today. No, you may not use him as your answer. That would be cheating ;-)

PRINCE VALIANT, of course. :)

(um . . . in the original Hal Foster iteration. These dudes who took it over from John Cullen Murphy are sort of pathetic, I'll grant.)

OK, I was really torn between Harriet Tubman and Nelson Mandela until Rob chimed in. I didn't even know who Liviu Lebrescu was, but I have to say, not that what he's done overshadows Harriet or Nelson, but in light of Solzheitsyn's passing, and sticking it to the man, I think Rob's answer wins.

Oh my goodness, I felt like my heart was cut out all over again when I read this. I remember how heartbroken I was when this happened. Thanks for the reminder Rob :(

Thanks. Yeah, he's one of my heroes, too.
