GREEN

Okay, people! How many meanings can we stack into one word, and how much illustration into one noun? Dictionary.com has 33 separate definitions for the word green--the prize on this one will probably go to the person who manages to combine as many of these as possible into one noun. :)

a color between blue and yellow
inexperienced
environmentally sound
etc., etc., etc . . .

a first year student at UC Berkeley who ate the week old tofu on a bage (thinking it was cream cheese) who is envious because she just heard that her stinkin rich roommate got the most high tech computer on the planet by narrowly beating her out for the most environmentally aware freshman award

(actually, that tofu thing happened to me...)

Kermit... poor guy...

(and poor us with that sad, sad song now in our head... and poor "green", getting such a bad rap as a color...it's lucky it has so many alternative definitions!)

Portland: the color of the landscape, politically, environmentally, the number of parks we have, the way we live, our penchant for golf, our youth as a city (compared to most of the US)...need I go on? We are as green as it gets.

okay, let's judge, people. :) thanks for giving me a fun round to judge! Tyler--kudos on piling things on, but I think you're just a little bit stretched. :)

Kudos to Erin, for plugging their home city, a place which is indeed green in about five different directions.

But this time round, I'm going to go with . . .
Katherine Gunn and her seasick rookie on a Greenpeace cruise. That fictional volunteer has been making me laugh whenever I thought of him for three days. :)
