well, well, well. some very yucky answers here. i loved them all, actually, and this is a tough one. (and yes, susan, the alphabet is now complete. :-))

i am going to have to go with mike and his diaper change because i can completely relate. having a 6 year old son with severe CP means i get to deal with some larger than baby-size messes.

this one particular time i didn't even know where to start. obviously i had to get a picture because no one would be able to believe the massive mess that was before me.

(for the morbidly curious)

now that's yucky.

What Mike said!

Incidentally, if anyone feels inclined to pray, they are putting a PEG (surgically installed feeding tube) in my mom in law this weekend. She's not eating well at all. This is really hard for my dad in law...somehow to him it means he is giving up that she will ever recover, which really is entirely opposite...they are doing it so she will have the energy to participate in her rehabilitation.

will certainly pray. my son has a feeding tube as well and it has been nothing short of a revolutionary miracle. it is no longer a struggle to get nutrition in him. he is healthy and thriving as a result. i hope your MIL will have similar results.

but i can understand the feeling you FIL has. it means she will no longer be the same again. for now. if she does get stronger and is able to eat orally again, there is always the possibility of having the tube come out, isn't there?

a question for everyone...
it seems we do lots of sharing of requests for prayer around the game table here, and that it wonderful. i had an idea a few months ago that i've been holding onto to see if it stuck or went away, and it has stayed. so now i'm tossing out the idea for feedback from all y'all.

would it be beneficial to have yet another blog dedicated to the sharing of prayer requests (and answers) with one another? a
sort of a centralized place where bloggers from all over can come to share with as well as bless one another. any thoughts?

Erin, I will offer my prayers for your in-laws as well.

jON ~ That's an awesome idea. If we do this, we also need to put the word out in our blogs so that all will know that there is a place that they can come and be naked, share of themselves and know that they are loved without condition.

I'm with you!!

Jon, I think that is great, could it be a "platitude free zone?"

And I am NOT going to your link, Mike. I have been changing Andy's diapers for 7 1/2 years now so I have my quota of gross for the day ;)

Erin, our prayers are with you here too. Especially for your FIL. I pray as he sees her getting stronger he will realise it for the blessing it is.

mike, i had the same idea. putting the word out on our blogs as well as visiting blogs upon blogs upon blogs to get the word out. we need prayer. we just do. and now we have the ability to cover real needs around the globe on an instantaneous basis.

my ignorance takes over here. how would it be set up so everyone can have access to utilize it?

a platitude free zone? unfortunately, we can't have complete control over something like that. hopefully people understand that trite, over simplistic words in the face of genuine adveristy are rarely helpful, but...

more thoughts, please. if we're interested i would need lots of help getting it started.

No harm in prayer ever I guess.

As long as we don't get caught up in miracles that may or may not be. We as a group have no way of confirming anything like that.

lol

can you tell I'm a bit sour on organized things like this?

My apologies to anyone who takes a dislike to my attitude. ;-)

Jon - I am happy to help set it up. Here's one thing to consider...with blogger...and maybe Mike or someone can answer this for Wordpress...you can have a maximum of 100 contributors.

For instance, here we are all contributors so we can all write posts on the blog.

For something you're talking about, it would be the same, but there could be no more than 100 people who could actually post there.

If you feel like that is an issue, I have a couple other ideas that might work better, for instance Google Groups. But I would probably say start with the blog and go from there.

I think that is a great idea Jon. I have to admit that often I have read a certain post, and commented, then come back later to find someone had also commented and left a prayer request. If I hadn't come back, I would have never known.
I think a good way to do it would be for one administrator to put the date, and maybe a short thought, then leave the comments for those who would like to leave prayer requests. Then you wouldn't have to make a million administrators.

For those who are hesitant to organize something like this, you have to remember that sometimes the prayers aren't just for the trial to go away, but to have the strength to get through the trial. There are times when we need all the prayers we can get.

Oh and thanks everyone for the prayers. I actually remembered to mention it when I looked at Jon's picture...

We're not sure when they are doing it, they said "as SOON as possible", so over the weekend or first thing Monday we're thinking. I'll let you all know.
