A raspberry on your check from a three year old

Matt's rage is beginning to subside, thanks. Still no desire to eat though, so it isn't over yet.

Fear destroys faith. Keep holding strong with faith that the Lord loves you and will reward everything in your life. In Deuteronomy we are told that the Lord blesses those who love Him to a 'thousand' generations.
Your son has a new father now, both spiritually and physically. Train him up in the way he should go and drive the foolishness bound in his heart with the rod of correction. prov 22
You WILL succeed and your control issues may be exactly what is needed at times here :-)

Prayers and hugs to you.

Back to moist ...

Me, tearful, yesterday at a Special Olympics baseball tournament my son participated in.
The generosity toward the wounded among us and to watch all the players do their best and enjoy life.

Needed to fix the mascara and there were no mirrors in the bathroom. LOL

p.s. Tyler Dawn - I've been quiet, but I want you to know I'm praying for you, too. Mostly praying that God will give you wisdom and discernment in HOW to pray... this stuff gets tricky sometimes... There's a book I'm reading that addresses it and might speak some encouragement to you - Walking With God, by John Eldredge - he discusses spiritual warfare in the most down-to-earth, matter-of-fact way i've ever heard it, and it's done so much to help my understanding. He tells a story of a time when their son was acting in a manner that wasn't typical, and how they prayed for him, which made me think of you. Anyway - praying, and asking God's peace to rest with you and your family, and for Matt to find the freedom he needs in Christ.

love,
Hap

Thanks guys, just wanted to give you an update ---

God showed me through a dream and some pretty deep down communication that Matt is suffering from exasperation, which makes this generational stuff just get totally worse when it does hit. I was controlled by my parents, I was the compliant one (like Matt), while my brothers were allowed to pretty much run wild. As a result, I am completely clueless as to how to parent with grace -- I want to control EVERYTHING. But Matt is the type of kid who doesn't need controlled, he actually needs a fair bit of freedom, as the Lord has clearly shown me that he is a natural leader and always will be. I parent out of fear that if I do not control things, they will turn out like my brothers, even though neither of them have the temperment for that. I was once part of a cult that taught me to parent according to rules, but all children are different. So God wants to teach me to parent like He does. For example the way He parents me, I cannot play World of Warcraft, but I know and respect others who are wonderful parents who do. I don't understand this, but as He can see all things He knows what to let slide and what to put a stop to. I am allowed to do many things that others aren't. I have to learn to let the small stuff go and be way more edifying and figure out what makes my kids tick more. I tell the kids I love them all the time and snuggle them whenever I get close enough, but don't actually know how to treat them as growing maturing human beings. But this is beginning to change. So this is great. The road is rocky, but they are beginning to respond.

So thanks for your continued support. When I get through all this I will blog it all -- except I will give Matt the respect of privacy of course, I only blog my shortcomings, not his ;) and I think this doesn't actually have much to do with him after all.

Brian--LOL! I never expected this when we moved here . . . (if you're in the Ft. Wayne area, we're about 40 mi. west of you)

As to the word, for lack of any brilliant ideas:

POUND CAKE

Tyler Dawn, still praying for you--it sounds like God's working toward something amazing in all this, something that will be worth the rocky road; but I'm praying you survive the road. :)

My eyes...when I say the pledge of allegiance.

Tyler Dawn, I have one that was born independent. From day one she didn't want to be controlled. I learned with her that I have to tell her what I expect, then walk away. The more I butt heads with her, the more she digs in her heels. I feel for you. :)

Thanks Jon. I have fond memories of my time spent there (and a few things that I can't remember too).
