BLUE

the color
profane
melancholy

(interesting side note: when looking up dictionary definitions and synonyms i found out that "blue" is also a term for a "learned woman". lot of blue going on around here, then)

My mind just totally raced to the gutter so I'm going to detach and think of something else now.

I meant this Blue Christmas

Oooh Crater Lake is a good one...why didn't I think of that?

I only saw it once twenty five years ago and it is still the most vivid natural blue I have ever seen :)

Abba was sure at the top of His game when he made that! I need to go back.

Moon... as in the beer, tho "once in a blue moon" is a very nice phrase, which i'm sure means something very scientific in addition to being extremely poetic... :)

Erin - lol - A Christmas To Remember is one of the best records ever. and yes. I have the actual record... :)

Erin said...

Hap - I KNEW there was a reason I like you! I hardly know anyone who likes that. I don't have the record, but I have some of the songs!

Did you ever see the TV special with Kenny and Dolly? I saw it at Christmastime...umm...1984.

Geez...am I that old?

Hello everybodeeeeeeee *waves frantically*

How do I play? How do I? Huh? Huh?

Sue said...

And may I just say before you do tell me how to play, I have this stupid song going through my head by David Bowie:

Apples 2 Apples
Crunch to crunchy
We know Granny Smiths's are munchy

Which is really forking annoying, you know?

so many great choices here. however, i am going to go with Kim. i just bought my daughter blueberries for the first time yesterday. i just know she's going to love them :-) congratulations Kim!

(eeyore being a close second. big fan of the melancholy as well as the gutter...)

and sue, if no one has filled you in yet, i'll pop by and shed some light.

hey baby love... awesome to see you here ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME?

Anyway, the winner of the last game (in this case Jon) posts the next adjective (although sometimes a noun) and the rest of us post a noun of some sort that it reminds us of. The real goal of the game is to put an answer out that will most appeal to the judge.

If you go through the old posts, you will get the gist of it purty darned quick.

Oh and send Erin a note telling her you want to be added to the list :)

Tyler Dawn said...

Ok, so Sue, wait until Kim posts the next adjective and then you can start playing :) it's pretty easy.

Sue said...

Thanks, Jon. I'll have a look see and see if my befuddled brain can work it out.

Yes, Tyler, I'm stalking you :)

Rob Harrison said...

OK, Sue--Erin (I presume) got you added to the list of contributors (at least, this blog is now included in your profile), and I added you to the "Participants" widget on the right side of the page; so you're all set. :)

Sue said...

Thanks, Rob! Pleased to join

*curtseys to all*

It was Katherine, actually, who so kindly invited me to your partay.

Erin said...

Hi Sue, I'm sooo glad you came to join us. It's a family here.

Like Tyler said, each post is a word...and you comment something that the word reminds you of. If the word is a an adjective (usually) then you have to comment something that is a noun. If the word is a noun, you have to comment an adjective.

Then after a lot of people have put their nouns in the comments (there is no set number of comments or time frame to choosing, just "whatever"), the person who posted the word selects a winner...it's entirely subjective, they just choose whichever comment they like. Then whoever is the winner of this round posts the next word. In this case it's Kim (thankfully broken).

When it's your turn to post, you choose an adjective (or noun if you want to be a rebel ;-) and the title of the post is the word, and the post is a couple (generally 3) definitions of the word or synonyms, to clarify the meaning.

Also, when it's your turn, give your post the label of the letter of the alphabet the word starts with. If you look on the main page, you'll see a list of letters; this helps us keep track of words that have already been used.
